Take a tulanian to work PROGram
Preparing Tulane Students to the world of careers.
A pilot program launching Summer 2025 designed to connect Tulane undergrads with Tulane professionals who are leaders in their industries!
Offering ONE DAY of mentorship and insights to a Tulane student AT THE BEGINNING OF THEIR CAREER EXPLORATION JOURNEY can significantly impact their future career success.
Goals and Outcomes
The primary goals of the “Take a Tulanian to Work” program are to enhance career exploration for students, providing them with a clearer understanding of various career paths and industry roles.
We aim to help students make informed decisions about their future careers based on real-world insights.
The program also focuses on facilitating valuable networking opportunities that could lead to internships or job placements, increasing students’ industry knowledge and assisting in skill development.
By fostering stronger relationships between Tulane alumni and current students, we seek to create a positive professional experience that contributes to the personal and professional growth of students.
What to Expect
TAKE A TULANIAN TO WORK is a one-day career discovery experience, providing Tulane undergraduate students with a firsthand look at different industries and workplace environments.
TAKE A TULANIAN TO WORK hosts are Tulane parents and alumni (or BOTH!) that choose to welcome one student for the day, offering them a unique opportunity to explore the skills and experiences needed for success in their chosen industry.
TAKE A TULANIAN TO WORK is NOT a structured internship nor job opportunity, but rather a chance for students to shadow professionals, gain insights into potential career paths, and build valuable connections.
Alumni/ Parents Who Wish to Serve as Hosts
As a host, you will play a crucial role in providing an enriching and informative experience for students.
- You will offer an insightful overview of your company, including its mission, values, and key projects.
- A well-structured agenda will outline the day’s activities, ensuring students know what to expect.
- You will personally guide students through the office, providing a welcoming atmosphere and introducing them to various team members and departments relevant to their interests.
- Students will gain professional exposure through hands-on experiences, observing daily operations, and participating in discussions.
- Additionally, you will provide industry resources, constructive feedback, and valuable insights into career development, including information on potential internships or job opportunities.

FOR STUDENTS
Students are encouraged to prepare thoroughly for their visit by researching the company, the host, and the industry.
They should dress professionally, adhering to the office dress code, and engage actively in discussions and activities.
Observing and taking notes will help students gain insights into the office environment, company culture, and daily operations.
Networking wisely by introducing themselves to staff members and making a positive impression is essential.
Students should respect confidentiality by avoiding discussions of sensitive information and reflect on their experience to assess how it aligns with their career goals.
Following up with a thank-you note, connecting on LinkedIn, and exploring potential internship or job opportunities are important steps for making the most of the visit.
First step is to fill out an Interest Form to kick-off the process! DEADLINE: Friday, April 4
